Keeping Arden Hills safe is my top priority. As your Mayor, one of my major achievements is that our police and fire services are responsive, effective and cost-conscious—and I’m proud of what I have accomplished.
I promised faster emergency response, and I delivered. Arden Hills has a new fire station and enhanced sheriff coverage, strengthening protection for our residents, families and businesses. One of the best examples of what we can accomplish through planning, partnership and strong leadership is our new fire station. The city purchased the land in 2018 and paid cash, then worked with the three-city fire board to develop the project and find ways to reduce the cost to residents. I took that effort to the state, and testified before the state legislature and secured $6.3 million through the Governor’s budget for the new station. That funding significantly reduced the burden on local taxpayers while giving our community better fire protection.
Under my leadership Arden Hills has a strong partnership with seven other cities to fund local sheriff services along with an effective partnership with Shoreview and North Oaks for Lake Johanna Fire Department services. These partnerships have greatly reduced public safety costs while maintaining outstanding service.
As Vice Chair of the Ramsey County 911 Dispatch Policy Committee, I strive to make sure our emergency dispatch system is effective and efficient and that the investments we make in public safety are well protected. I also proactively work with the Fire Department and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office to address issues and find solutions.
Looking ahead, I support and will advocate for additional, safer county road island crossing signals where traffic lights aren’t available, helping residents move more safely throughout our community. In addition, I have planned and budgeted for future trails.
As Mayor, I have met and assisted individuals and businesses affected by Metro Surge to secure their futures, as I did during Covid.
Protecting you, your family, your home and our community is a responsibility—and one I am proud to lead. Strong Public Safety is one of the standards of a successful city, and it is a standard I take seriously as your Mayor.
